Cosmetic Needling

Healthy skin is beautiful skin.  The cosmetic benefits are secondary.  Feed your skin all the essential nutrients it needs, and you will have the best results possible, regardless of what skin problem you have.  But how do you do this if your skin is designed to keep things out?  (Only about 7 % of the creams you apply are absorbed.)  The answer is quite simple.  Make tiny openings in the top layer of the skin by using a roller, or an electronic needling device (which does not hurt because the needles are not long enough to reach nerves), and up to 80% more nutrients will penetrate to the layers where they are most needed.  The minor irritation to the cells also stimulates a cascade of signals from the epidermis to the fibroblasts to facilitate collagen production.

Cosmetic Rolling for 6 months and high doses of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Antioxidants

The same principle is producing greater results with hair restoration products for hair growth in men and women.  In addition, new treatment using Platelet Rich Plasma offers even more hope than ever before.

Cosmetic Rolling for 6 months combined with products such as Minoxidil (Rogaine®)

 Cosmetic Needling, combined with the correct nutrients, will;

  • reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • tighten lax skin
  • fade brown spots
  • fade scars
  • reduce pore size
  • fade stretch marks
  • decrease permanent diffused redness
  • promote hair growth for men and women

ADVANTAGES

  • The process stimulates your own collagen, which is natural and long-lasting.
  • It's safer for all skin types.
  • There is no damage to the skin.
  • It can be used on thin skin.
  • The process is not painful.
  • It can be used on any area (face, neck and body).
  • It can be used by you at home or anywhere.

SIDE EFFECTS

  • Possible reddening of the skin which should subside by morning.
  • Possible slight skin swelling initially. This usually subsides in a day or two.
  • A possible retinoid reaction (redness, flaking, burning or stinging), due to the increase in Vitamin A penetration.  This is not harmful, just unpleasant. It does not indicate an allergy to your product and subsides quickly once the dose is reduced.
  • If irritation of the skin results, delay use of the Roller for a day or two or until the skin feels comfortable.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Do not use the Cosmetic Roller on the following skin conditions:

Active acne, active rosacea, open wounds, infected areas,  eczema, severe solar keratosis, skin cancer, raised moles or warts or if you are unsure about using your skin care product.  Seek a professional opinion.

Medical Needling

For those who would like faster results, the next step up from Cosmetic Needling is Medical Needling.  This does not rely on increased nourishment alone to get results, but also on the natural healing process that occurs from micro-injuries to the skin.

Four months elapsed since first treatment, 3 treatments in all.  High doses of Vitamin A topically, combined with Vitamin C, Colostrum Gel and AntiOxidant Gel.

Visia Analysis Shows:

  • Wrinkles 29 % improved
  • Brown spots 16 % improved
  • Pores 23 %  improved
  • UV Spots 6 % improved

(Red spots are pre-cancerous and require alternative treatment.)

How is Medical Needling different to Cosmetic Needling?

The medical roller has 200 fine needles that penetrate 0.5 mm-2.5 mm into the skin.  Electronic devices have about a dozen needles and the depth of penetration can be adjusted, with 0.5 mm being the average preferred depth for most treatments.  This is deep enough to trigger the growth factor cascade, but shallow enough to minimize recovery time and discomfort.  The top layer of skin is left intact (non-ablative) which is a huge benefit compared with other treatments like laser, where this layer is removed (ablative).  It does not have the same risk of pigment changes with sun exposure after treatment, thus making it ideal for those who have darker skins, where laser treatments are contra-indicated.  It also results in natural collagen and not scar tissue.

Medical Needling, combined with the correct nutrients, will;

  • reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • tighten lax skin
  • fade brown spots
  • flatten and fade scars
  • reduce pore size
  • fade stretch marks
  • decrease permanent diffused redness
  • promote hair growth for men and women

ADVANTAGES

  • The process is entirely natural and safe.
  • Your own collagen is long-lasting.
  • You will never be left looking artificial or lopsided.
  • It's safer for all skin types because there is less sun sensitivity afterwards, unlike laser, which can result in too much pigment or total loss of pigment after treatment in people with darker skin.
  • There is no permanent damage to the skin when treatments are performed appropriately.
  • It can be used on thin skin.
  • It can be safely repeated for greater results.
  • It can be used on any area (face, neck and body).
  • The process is less painful than some technologies such as Thermage® or Fraxel®.
  • There is a very short healing period - as little as 5 days (back to work next day with make-up).
  • It is more affordable than most treatments.
  • Effective - It works!

SIDE EFFECTS AND COMPLICATIONS

  • Reddening of the skin which should subside in 3-5 days.
  • Mild swelling initially. This usually subsides in a day or two.
  • Bruising in some, which may last for 5-10 days.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin types with aggressive treatments or when combined with anything else that increases inflammation, e.g. chemical peels.
  • Fine scarring with aggressive treatments, especially over the cheeks.
  • Allergic reactions and Granulomas with inappropriate combination of some skin care products.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Do not Needle the following skin conditions:

Active acne, active rosacea, open wounds, infected areas,  eczema, severe solar keratosis, skin cancer, raised moles or warts or if you are unsure about using your skin care product.
